ITINERARY

Day 1: Macapa. Arrival in Macapa and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Free day to walk around the capital of Amapa state. *Meals are not included this day.

Day 2: Macapa / Amapa National Forest. Breakfast and departure from the hotel at 8:00 am for land travel (car or van) to the city of Porto Grande, located 100 km from Macapa. The route is all done on an asphalt highway. Arrival in Porto Grande at around 9:30 am., where we will board a speed boat (“voadeira” type) and navigate on the Araguari River to the office of Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), responsible for the management of the Amapa National Forest (FLONA do Amapá). The Amapa National Forest is a federal Conservation Unit, which covers an area of ​​459,867 hectares and is located in the Guiana Shield region, in the center of the Amapa State. On the way to ICMBio office, we will visit family houses of the riverine communities of Araguari river, to get to know the local handicrafts and the project of processing non-timber forest products (andiroba, copaiba, etc.) held by the local Association. They produce natural cosmetics as soaps, vegetable oils and candles. Lunch (included). Arrival at Amapa National Forest in the afternoon and free time for swim and rest. Dinner (included) and overnight in hammocks at a family house.

Day 3: Amapa National Forest / Macapa. Breakfast and departure at 07:30 for a walk in the tropical rainforest on the banks of the Falcino River, conducted by an experienced resident of the region. The complete trail is about 3 km long, and can be done on smaller routes. Observation of fauna and flora, highlighting the native trees of the Amazonian ecosystem. Lunch (included). At 2:00 pm, departure for navigation back to Porto Grande. Arrival, snack (included) and transfer to Macapa, where arrival is expected at 7:00 pm. Dinner (not included).

Day 4: Departure Macapa. Breakfast and check-out from the hotel in the morning. Transfer to the airport for departure.
